Lyra, also known as aerial hoop, is a steel or aluminum hoop suspended in the air held by either single or double point riggings. A lyra class begins with stretching and flexibility training. After our warm ups, we will work on our skills for the day which will include fundamental lyra moves and grip strengthening techniques. Each lyra class concludes with a brief cool down.
In this class, we will learn to establish a flow using various skills such as hooping on our waist, hips, chest, legs, arms, neck, elbows, and even our heads and noses! We will work to develop skills such as object manipulation, illusion, balance, and even dance to incorporate all these moves into our flow. Hoops in a wide variety of sizes and weights will be provided for all students.
Hula hooping has been proven to burn 400-600 calories per hour. A regular hooping practice will improve your core strength and tone your arms, abs, thighs, and so much more. During our class we use conditioning exercises to help strengthen these key parts of the body in a fun and playful way
